TIMELINE

Since Ulaanbaatar's primary and secondary general education schools had few teachers, working scope and workload, the affairs of the city's schools were under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Public Enlightenment until 1931. The Ulaanbaatar Department of Enlightenment was established in 1931 by the resolution of the joint meeting of the leaders of the Mongolian Legislative Assembly and the Government. According to Order No. 63 of January 23, 1932, the list of the areas under the jurisdiction of the local Education Department and the list of tasks in charge of the Department of Education of Ulaanbaatar City were approved:

• 14 primary schools within the provinces and city

• All theaters, other youth clubs and social centers of the provinces and city

• Films released by the Ministry of People's Enlightenment in the city outside of theater institutions

• Illiteracy centers and new literacy classes and teachers within the province and city

• Community and civics centers

• Pre-primary education and community-based activities within provinces and the capital city. Thus, the name of the city's education department has been changing according to the social development of historical times. It includes:
